The young ladies of Derrick Brooks Charities Rites of Passage Mentoring Program attended Bridging The Gap The community & First Responders 12th Annual Community Softball Game. During this event, the girls were able to interact with the FBI, Tampa Police department, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, and Hillsborough County Fire and Rescue. Representatives from each profession engaged the audience in a Q&A about current events in the news and the community that relates to law enforcement. They also gave personal testimony’s about their work experiences and how working together can impact the community for the greater good. Unfortunately, the softball game was canceled due to weather.

RESILIENCY, SETTING GOALS & POSITIVE THINKING!  This was the message delivered by Mr. Andre Polite from Polite Visions Inc. “Don’t take life for granted, time is the most valuable asset, with every day and in every way strive to become better and take initiative to produce success TIPS!” Along with this impactful message, Mr. Polite directed the young ladies as they created vision boards based on their personal goals. He gave them step by step guidance about how to map out daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals. On behalf of Derrick Brooks Charities Rites of Passage Program, we thank you Mr. Polite for being a part of the village that positively inspires our youth.

In addition to such an awesome day, Mr. Brooks, President of Derrick Brooks Charities made a surprise visit and spoke to the girls about what Martin Luther King Day means to him. We look forward to walking and celebrating with him in the 2018 MLK Day Parade! January and February shout outs go to LaSarah, Jayla, Alexis, Mariah, Ms. Sunny, Ms. Carol, Ms. Rhonda and Ms. Jessica!
