Derrick Brooks Charities Youth Programs co-sponsored the 12th Annual Back 2 School Bash along with the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department, Tampa Police Department, East Tampa Business and Civic Association and other Agencies at the Jackson Heights NFL YET Center on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Approximately 700 residents attended and youth left the event with book bags, binders, thumb drives and other school supplies according to Darrell Daniels. ”Derrick wants to see every child have an opportunity to become successful,” Daniels said. ”We support this event because Derrick Brooks Charities believes in education” Derrick told the crowd. Mr. Brooks and Mr. Daniels honored Tampa Police Department Chief Eric Ward at one of his final appearances as Chief due to retirement. “He is a native son of East Tampa, and that proves anyone here can become successful with hard work and dedication” said Daniels when he introduced the Chief. All attendees were treated to free barbeque and entertainment. Also in attendance was Florida State Senator Darryl Rouson.
