On December 9, 2017, Derrick Brooks Charities Youth Program coordinated and participated in the 10th Annual Earl Silas Bridge the Gap Community Youth Forum with youth from the Sulphur Springs Community as well as first responders. Unfortunately, due to rain, they were not able to have the softball game but the youth, law enforcement and adults assembled in the bleachers to participate in a police-community forum discussion.

Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan, Tampa Fire and Rescue Chief Tom Forward, DBCYP Director Darrell Daniels and retired TPD Weed and Seed Coordinator Earl Silas pose at the 10th Annual Earl Silas Bridge the Gap Community Youth Forum and law enforcement softball game on December 9, 2017 in Sulphur Springs. Mr. Daniels renamed the event after Earl Silas when he retired because he and DBCYP started the event years ago.

Although it rained, youth, law enforcement and adults assembled in bleachers to participate in a police-community forum discussion.
