So all good things must come to an end but not before an action packed day in the Windy City! We started the day with a great breakfast at the hotel and headed out early for the CBOE – The Chicago Board of Exchange. All of the group were presented with official name tags used on the trading floor and this made things official for our tour. We had a brief history lesson and lecture from Ms. Roma and then we were divided into two groups to tour the the exchange. All of the students were amazed by the trading floor and the activity. Gone are the days of paper and screaming and hello technology. Half of the floor is empty due to the online trading and the advance of technology – a true lesson in why STEM is so important.
After leaving the CBOE we headed to Loyola University for lunch and a campus tour. The University sits on the very beautiful and expansive Lake Michigan and guess what the name of their campus newspaper is? THE PHOENIX! Our school mascot. We were in a hurry to visit our partner’s headquarters at Fifth Third Bank on the River in Chicago. The group was treated to four professional guest speakers from within the banking industry at Fifth Third Bank.
Off to the hotel to get pretty for a night of fine dining at Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse and then onto Broadway to see Aladdin – all of it was amazing!
It was time to get rested for our day of travel back to Tampa.0
