Family Community Wellness Event 2019
Derrick Brooks Charities and Fifth Third Bank present:
“COMMUNITY FALL HARVEST”
NOVEMBER 2, 2019
12:00-4:00PM
COPELAND PARK
Derrick Brooks Charities, Fifth Third Bank and the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department formed a partnership to create and event for the Tampa Bay Community that is free of charge in order to bring community service providers and families together to create a synergy beneficial to both. The geographic area we are serving is a heavily disenfranchised community. Our focus for this event is whole family wellness, which includes: health screening, behavioral and mental wellness, credit counseling, banking services, financial literacy, family and child safety, disaster preparedness, Hispanic services, human trafficking and many more.
During the event there is entertainment provided by local radio station DJ and a Kids Zone for the enjoyment of our community youth. Our Kids Zone has: bounce houses, video game trucks, interactive games, hay rides, face painters, Buccaneer Street Team, Tampa Bay Lightning Street Team, The Rowdies Street Team and many other activities.
When families arrive they go through registration and receive a gift bag, all adults also receive a passport which they get stamped at all of the vendor tables and once this is completed they hand it in to the DJ and these forms are used as raffle tickets. There are many raffle drawing throughout the event.
We have entertainment from local youth step teams and dance teams. Toward the conclusion of the event there is a guest speaker—usually Hall Of famer Derrick Brooks. This year the Mayor of the City of Tampa and our local Sheriff will be addressing our families. We also have all of the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County first responders in attendance promoting a healthy relationship in our community neighborhoods.
At the conclusion of the event all of the family members are provided a warm meal to take with them.
