The program is conducted at the Wilbert Davis Boys & Girls Club and the Bill Carey Brandon Boys & Girls Club.
Program:
The First & Goal program has offered 192 students an array of workshops, classes and college tours to assist them in preparing for college since its inception in 2006. In addition, we also offer college planning workshops to help parents prepare to send their child to college.
The program continues to enhance students' academic skills by offering individualized and group tutoring, FCAT prep, and SAT prep. In addition, students attend a variety of character development workshops which include financial empowerment, etiquette, character building, goal setting, responsibility and decision making.
Achievements:
All twelve (100%) of our 2009 senior class are headed to college this fall. To date, the program has helped 53 seniors out of 56 (94%) to go to college.
We salute LaQuida Jennings for her tenacity in securing over $50,000 in scholarships to attend St. Leo University this fall.
