Derrick Brooks Charities Rites of Passage Program is excited to kick off another enriching year of mentoring!!  On September 10, 2011 at the Brooks DeBartolo Collegeint High School, eager mentors and volunteers welcomed 31 girls ages ranging 7 to 18 years old into the Rites of Passage Mentoring Program. All were greeted by smiling faces and big hugs.

During Saturdays meet and greet old and new members were able to get acquainted with each other and their mentors. The Rites of Passage Coordinator, Tresa Boykin, provided the girls and their parents with detailed information in reference to the programs mission, guidelines, goals and expectations.

The 2011 and 2012 monthly topics will consist of: Community service and taking action, life skills, healthy living, good vs. bad peer pressure, making good choices and preparing for college to name a few. The girls will also have opportunities to participate in community service outings.

Derrick Brooks Charities would like to welcome back mentors, volunteers and all Rites of Passage Members. We are truly thankful to all of you and all the parents who have allowed their daughters to be a part of this wonderful experience. We look forward to having an educational and exciting 2011- 2012 mentoring year!
