Foster children in Hillsborough County got to spend time today with Gov. Rick Scott, former Bucs linebacker Derrick Brooks and Miami Heat three-point specialist James Jones at a camp hosted by Derrick Brooks Charities, the Department of Children and Families and Hillsborough Kids.

Brooks said the camp's mission is to encourage the kids to set goals and follow through. Scott spoke to the children for about 20 minutes on the value of hard work.

Kids like Quasan Watkins loved meeting the athletes and talking to other kids in the foster system.

"We're really lucky," Watkins said. "We get to do things other kids don't get a chance to do."
